Our Favorite Bartender- Alex Rumble

Lucky Rooster Kitchen & Bar

Sometimes Alex Rumble can seem, well, a little grumpy. He occasionally gripes on social media about the heat, the tourists, the lack of whatever’s missing here on the Southend. But Rumble is really one of the nicest and easiest dudes to talk to, whether he’s behind the bar at Lucky Rooster or sitting next to you while watching a band play. He’s quick on buying a round of shots and always has some intelligent perspective on the bar banter. Occasionally Rumble pulls a quick one on you, like the time he picked up a guitar at Swampfire Studios and shredded my face off or the time he wrote the hit R&B classic “Bring Back the Plastic”, an ode to the plastic shot glasses once used at The Boardroom. Here’s five questions with the man, the myth, the legend, Alex Rumble:

1. What brought you to Hilton head?

Winter. The only thing worse than the perpetual smell of whiskey and shame on this island is winter in Chicago.

2. What’s your favorite and least favorite thing about Hilton head?

Knowing everyone and everything. Having everyone and everything known about me.

3. If I’m at your bar what’s the fastest way to get a drink?

Bribes work. We do 7 touch craft cocktails, delicious requires some patience. Unfortunately no shortcuts.

4. If you didn’t work in F&B what other job would you like to have?

We’re already saving the turtles by denying straws. Both my dreams have been fulfilled.

5. What’s your favorite drink to drink and what’s your favorite drink to make?

Bourbon neat. At work that entails some of the finest brown water available. Personally that entails Pappy dreams on a Pabst budget.
