Pet of the Month – Eve the Dog

Who knows what Eve has been through? Animal Control came into work one day on a cold November day last year and found her locked in one of their holding pens. Shortly thereafter, Eve was transferred to Hilton Head Humane Association. Eve’s gorgeous brown eyes and shiny brindle fur make her an appealing option for visitors, but she is so shy that people have difficulty discerning if she likes them, much less wants to join their family. Volunteers and staff have continued to dedicate their time to helping Eve be more comfortable each day with all kinds of humans. Through hard work and bravery, Eve continues to come further out of her comfort zone.

Eve, everyone has discovered, is very smart and perceptive. She likes to “talk,” but not by barking or other noises, but rather by leading, pointing, and gesturing. Eve knows what cameras are and can distinguish whether one is taking still photos or videos; she even has prepared poses for still photos and “skits,” as it were, for videos! Eve is SO snuggly and can’t get enough of belly, side, and chin rubs from her favorite friends! Important to note, she is very fearful of overhead pets.

Make an excuse to visit Eve: even if you can’t adopt an animal, visiting will help her gain the confidence she needs to show off her smart, cuddly, beautiful self! Eve is waiting patiently for her favorite family to arrive, so please patiently wait for Eve to come out of her shell!
