We Love a Parade

By Matt Stock

Floats, crackerjack marching bands, joyous crowds, candy being thrown about, what’s not to love? There is one particular parade that holds a very special place in our hearts, and that’s the annual Hilton Head St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Spanning a stretch of the South End from Forest Beach to Park Plaza, the yearly procession draws thousands of revelers from all over the lowcountry each year. Throw in live performances from the best bands in the land all the way up and down Pope Avenue, and you’ve got what is, without fail, one of the most fun days of the year on our island.

With the parade falling on the the actual holiday this year, the Southender is going BIG, so we’ve partnered up with our good friends at Al’s Aloha Kitchen to throw our first ever Southender St. Patrick’s Day Throwdown! Our team will be posted up on Al’s outdoor deck, located in the Bi-Lo shopping center on Pope Avenue, directly along the parade route. Fun kicks off at noon, we’ll be hanging out, enjoying some food and drink, you can meet the staff, grab some mags, and get your photo taken in our mobile studio for our ongoing #iamasouthender campaign. Cap it off with games, surprises, and live music from our main man Zach Stevens from 2-4 PM, and you’ve got one of the parade’s coolest hang spots. Come join the movement!
